He is trustworthy...

First 2015 post...#SuperExcited!!! :-) Thanks to everyone who is popping in...my desire is for you to be encouraged... :-) The Lord has many stories to encourage and uplift through my life (and yours too), I'm eager to share them here...
Today's post (and many I'll write) is very personal...so walk with me, will you? :-)
Since I was a little girl (as far back as I can remember), I was so scared of my dad...he was a disciplinarian...and mostly present but absent...you get? Like, he was physically present, but emotionally zilch... :-( So, I never really experienced the love of a father...those words were extremely incomprehendable for me. Then I gave my life to Jesus when I was 15, and when I heard that God is a Father...I unconsciously related Him with my earthly father...and I tried everything in my power to "please" him, coz that's the only thing that could make Him stay happy with me...because that's the idea I had of a father...I garra say that was exhausting...because we can never really "please"...and with God, that's really NOT THE POINT!
But how different our Heavenly Father is...it has taken me many years (actually it was only until late last year) to understand that God doesn't love me for what I do...I know we hear this statement so many times, but for real, it's true! :-) He loves us-period! We do not need to do anything else to increase it...becasue first of all, IT IS INFINITE!!! :-)
I have met many people who have had bad experiences with their papas...and I hear you...some of our fathers have denied us the chance of experiencing their protective love (because ideally that's what a father does), but hear it from one who was denied the same...but has absolutely been transformed by the pure and powerful love of Abba, Father... :-)
Now, just to get things straight: I absolutely love my dad, and if you meet him, you'll love him too-I promise! :-D He's hilarious...he's witty...and he's extremely social! :-) I love that man to bits...years ago on the other hand, I had rather bitter and resentful sentiments about him...but the love of the Lord somehow almost (if not completely) blinds you from the pain of hurt...because His love is the real deal!!! :-)
It is important to forgive your earthly father in case you have had one who has hurt you beyond words (you'll be suprised how relieving even the statement: "I forgive my father" is, trust me, I know...) It is the will of God to forgive them...because that is a step to your healing...and understanding the love of our Heavenly Father... :-)
I learnt the hard way, that apart from giving us a picture of God as Father, our fathers play the role of modelling a noble man-in their sons, and for daughters-they demonstrate the ideal kind of men we should admire and desire to be with eventually...our first class is from our dads... :-) You guessed right: I didn't have that too...so my idea of guys was rather twisted...and almost inexistent...whooooah! :-o But again, who said the Lord gives up on us? (lie! lie! lie!) With a few rather painful mistakes, like what Joseph told his brothers "What the enemy intended for bad, the Lord intended it for good...to accomplish the saving of many lives" (Genesis 50:20, I've paraphrased slightly) and today I certainly testify that my Heavenly Father has stepped in and played role of Father oh so well!!! :-) I am loved, and I look forward to life everyday...without bitterness, regret, or pain...honest... :-) And when I walk, do I have a mark on my forehead that reads: "Had daddy-issues"? :-/ EXACTLY!!! :-) I'm not sure what point I wanted to make there...but I hope you get it...
So in conclusion: imagine, just think about this: We all have so many choices we freely make, but none of us chose our families... :-D I thought about that the other day, and I thought to God: "Then I can absolutely trust that you knew...and know what You're doing with this." And I rested... :-) You don't know how excited I am for marriage and parenthood...and I always say my kids will have the best dad in the world! :-) And they most certainly will! :-) This story can, and should be yours too... :-) My heart goes out to the fellas especially...who haven't had their dads around to show them the way around being a man...and maybe the dynamics for chics and dudes is different...but we have this in common: God can still step in for us both and correct all that was errored by our dads...and show us the right way...because He's THE LORD who healeth us... :-) (Exodus 15:26e) The Lord loves us-PERIOD! WE need not do much more than was done already for us at the cross by Jesus! :-) Give the Lord a chance to show you this too...He's trustworthy...He's not malicious...He's the REAL DEAL FATHER! :-) This song best describes our Father... :-) I know it has to me... :-)

Watch your tongue!!!

hello dear readers... :-)

I am sure it's not too late to say "Happy New Year" seeing the last time I wrote was last
year... ;-)My hope is you all have started 2014 well, on purposeful expectations, and keeping the hope going... :-)

At the beginning of this year, I constantly heard a statement going around that goes like this: "January is such a tough month, we are just everyone's just going by..." Truth be told, it is a statement that is so
popularly used in the month of January, after all the festivity spending and then January suddenly seems to have more hours to each day approaching the end of it... :-o I had never though seriously about it before, like I have this year.

As I was praying about 2014, I clearly heard the Lord mention that 2014 is blessed... :-) And so I trusted Him, and begun 2014 with a clear expectation and understanding of the declaration the Lord has made over it... :-) So when I heard speak about January in that manner, I was alarmed... :-o

The first question I asked myself was this: "Why would someone speak so negatively about the beginning of their year in that way?" Listen to what Scripture says: Proverbs 18:21 says: "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."

Did you know you have the power to create or kill just by your words??? :-o The Lord created us in His image and likeness...how did God CREATE? from Genesis 1:3 clearly illustrates how God created by HIS WORD... :-) The Proverbs 18:21 verse mentions that "...those who LOVE IT, will eat
its fruit." meaning, if you love to speak good things, then good things are what will come forth, but if you love (or have the habit of) speaking 'bad' things, then I guess by now you know what's coming...

Here's the thing: I know some situations are hard, (don't get me wrong), buuuuut, would you rather dwell in that situation, or find joy in THRIVING WHILE IN THAT SITUATION? :-) While some unfortunately year after year fail to plan wisely for the coming year as they spend in merry over the Decemeber holiday, truth be told, you have nobody to blame when the chips roll in January, and you realize you have not much to spend on, while needs are glaring at you-but YOURSELF!!! :-( Try
planning this yaer, only a fool (no pan intended), spends all he has and leaves nothing for the days to come... :-( YIKES!!! So cut January some slack... :-( God didn't curse the month to be a month of no
reservoir... :-) He blessed it, just like He has all the other months, and only those who choose to speak "good" into it, will eat of its fruit... :-) Try it some time... :-) The minute I got that revelation, I
spoke into my January, and I am happy to report to you that this year's January has by far been MY BEST January of all!!! :-)

Some other statements that have really caught my attention are these two: First off: "All men are dogs!" Now, this one I have heard from many ladies, who have (honestly) either been directly hurt by a particular, or, (unfortunately), several guys, or has witnessed or heard from her girlfriends of their experiences with men who have hurt them. For such ladies I have this question for you: "Do you really think that if your perspective of  'all' men is like that, are exposing yourself to a ray of hope that there could be just one man who defies all that the others in your past have done? :-( I, persoanally have been offended and hurt by guys, with my heart broken and taken for garented, but NOT ONCE have I lost hope in that one guy that God has for me, who is worth me... ;-) Iencourage you too, to be encouraged that there is someone just created for you, and you for him... :-) And God did not make, nor call no human being a "dog"... :-) so who are we to give others such names??? :-o :-(

The second statement that literally breaks my heart so many times in my country is this one: "Kenya will never change, everyone is corrupt..." That always agitates me!!! :-( Why? You ask? Here's why: Because no country was ever founded to be corrupt!!! :-o Corruption starts with one person, and another adopts it, and the chain reaction goes on... :-( But I still beleive that there is hope for a corruption-free Kenya, and Kenya needs someone to believe in that, speak that, and hope in that... :'( And also practise no-corruption... ;-)

All in all, you can call me an optimist, or hopeful person, but I believe what the Bible says about my tongue... :-) And I choose to speak "hope" and "good" in all situations, because there is power in words spoken!!! :-) I would not want to hate January, I would not want to lose hope in falling in love and being with the man that God has me for, and for the love I have for Kenya, I do not want to speak hopelessness... :-) So I choose to be different, and speak "GOOD" all the time... :-) with the help of Jesus, I can do all things by His strength... :-) and on an end note: the world needs to see faith in action for them to believe... :-) To all Christians, this is for you: Speak life, to give hope to dead and hopeless situations... ;-)

Speak life people... :-)

Be blessed by Toby Mac's "Speak Life"

...by faith and not by sight... :-)

hello there dear readers!!! :-) I know it's been a while, but hope you are all well... :-) the past six months have been AMAZING!!! :-) they have been months of tasting more and more of the Lord's faithfulness-most of the months have been more of a test of faith, but as a Christian, how else do we live? BY FAITH!!! :-) 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV).

To try and sum up all the past months, I will share my highlights: April was sad because I lost my step-dad and grandmother, in a span of two weeks. For the longest time I didn't really experience or know the kind of pain a person goes through in losing a loved one, until I experienced the two deaths... :-( But I assure you readers, the Holy Spirit is a comforter for real!!! John 14:26. I was so encouraged reading the word of God, sometimes I wondered if I was really strong, or just pretending, but the Lord was present and comforted me!!! :-) I am forever grateful for that, and now I know the feeling, and I am in a position to comfort another who has lost a loved one, the Lord encourages us to comfort others with the same comfort we ourselves have received...2 Corinthians 1:3-4. God is faithful. May was chilled, working on finishing my internship and finishing up my internship report, in time for submission, and I must say I really enjoyed compiling that report.

June was just the month!!! :-) I graduated from Daystar University!!! :-) I was in denial for a while, because those were the BEST years of my life, because a lot of my gifts and personality was shaped during those years, preparing me for ministry and spiritual maturity... :-) I am forever grateful to the Lord Jesus for those four years: the relationships formed, lessons learnt, networks developed, exposure, and leadership skills unwrapped... :-) July came, and I celebrated my birthday...a new year, with so much gratitude and expectation... :-) August was the month of serving at camps at Word of Life Kabete, where for the very first time we had campers from Marsabit. Every time I have served at Word of Life, I have grown and been blessed, and this August was a commemoration of a year since I started serving.

And now: September (though coming to an end), has been surprising!!! :-) God has been teaching me a lot on faith: reminding me that faith is just believing that God is able to do it, no matter what the eyes see, or the situation seems to say otherwise... :-) Proverbs 3:5 says: "trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding..." (NIV) let's iron out a few things here: I have discovered (and this is a discovery that I give all credit to the Holy Spirit for, because it is He who taught me this) that as a human being grows, somehow we become more knowledgeable-because we are always learning something new, and our understanding is growing. And the more we grow and mature, the more complicated our reasoning and understanding gets (hope we are still on the same page here), and with our understanding growing, somehow faith feels RISKY... :-) Have you ever observed how trusting a child is? If you tell a child that as their father you are a superhero and they will always be safe, they take it as it is and believe you- PERIOD!!! :-) Now I understand why the Lord asks us to be like "these"...Matthew 18:3 The Lord expects us to just trust Him-PERIOD!!! :-) If we believe He is Almighty, we should trust Him ALL THE WAY!!! :-)

Here comes my final remarks: there are so many things I am trusting the Lord for-a job, marriage partner, school fees and so many other things (just to mention a few)...but here's the thing: I know, that I know, that I know, that the Lord is not just able to do it, BUT WILLING TO DO IT!!! We just sometimes are limited by our understanding, based on logic, or past "failures" which birth worry, then doubt, then unbelief... :-( But I come to encourage someone: God is not a liar (Numbers 23:19)

I think if we are really honest with ourselves, we can agree that sometimes we actually have faith, then somewhere along the waiting period, we just give up... :-( Forgetting that even in the waiting, faith should still be the fuel to keep us on the road... :-)

You see, God is all about our growth, which to Him is character development, and not so much into making us comfortable... :-) He is so much interested in molding Christ-like character in us... :-) so there are many times that He will cause us to wait on Him, just so we can grow in trusting Him, and not by the standards of the world, which are based on logic and reason, but STANDING ON HIS VERY WORD!!! :-) ...and that is living by faith, and not by sight... :-) So help us God... :-) Soon I will testify the manifestations of God's promises to me, in the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying the wait!!! :-) To God be the glory!!! :-) And an important reminder: what we cannot do naturally, ONLY THE LORD can do supernaturally, so let us involve the Holy Spirit and ask Him to help our unbelief...

here is a song declaration of God's greatness!!! :-) may it stirr faith in you, like it has me... :-)

God's love language.

hi everybody!!! :-) welcome to the third post... :-) hope you are well, and making eternal impact in our daily encounters... :-) praying for you... :-) believe it or not... :-)

today's post is interesting because it brings out a bit of my "romantic" side as I share some of me... :-) but mostly because it touches on LOVE... ;-) some of us get goosebumps at the sound of this word, others get a warm, fuzzy feeling running down our chest, others are  indifferent... :-) wherever you fall, we can all admit that the word is not new to us... :-)

did you know that there are five languages common to every human being??? :-) I discovered this three years ago, while a freshman at University... :-) yap!!! you can thank me later... :-D the love languages (in the simplest way I can describe them) are the ways we express love to others, and would like to be shown in return... :-) got it??? :-) The five are: Physical touchActs of serviceGiftsWords of affirmation and Quality time. For more on this kindly check out this link: www.infpblog.com/resources/book.../five-love-languages/

my top love languages are in the following order: 1.Physical touch: I love to hug, peck and stroke loved ones' backs when I say hi, as a sign of affection to them (especially ladies, to be safe), 2.Acts of service: I love to help, can't say more than that guys!!! it's one of my ways of letting someone know that "I love you, and giving a helping hand gives me joy to make you happy"... :-) and thoughtful gestures like small notes just saying "have a good day" or "you rock!!!"...those simple acts "of service" go a long way for me, and I do that a lot to others as well... :-) finally, 3.Quality time: a long walk, a picnic together, or sitting in a strategic place watching the sun come up or go down ( I love sunrises, and early mornings generally)... :-) that does it for me... :-) just to clarify, I do this with my girlfriends a lot, first because they are worth it, and second because I don't have the guy yet, to share the intimate one-on-ones with... :-) that's me... :-) what's your love language??? :-) I suggest you find out, in case you haven't, so you can understand you better... :-)

do you think God has a love language as well??? :-) a year ago, if someone asked me, I would have raised one eyebrow, and answered: "I'm not sure how to answer your question"... :-D a friend of mine, who I owe much for putting this thought in my mind and clarifying it in the most amazing way, Maryanne Njiraini, a.k.a Mariru, mentioned it during a Bible Study fellowship, and it has been in my heart and mind ever since... :-) my hope, as always, is that the Lord will reveal to you His truth through my writing... :-) so here goes!!! ;-)

YES!!! The answer is yes, the Lord does have a love language...and it is called OBEDIENCE!!! :-) For Him, He is assured we love Him by obeying Him... :-) how do I know this? 1 John 5:3 says: "In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome..." (NIV) I would really love to explain this more, but Scripture winds it up... :-) the same way I feel loved by my best friend is if she hugs me, or takes me for a long walk and we just talk, or sits me on an elevated place as we watch the sunrise, God feels loved when we obey His commands... :-) and check this out: He even assures us that His commands are not burdensome... :-) shall we trust, and obey Him??? :-) :-) :-) :-)

here's a short part of my life story currently: I am in a complicated family situation as we speak: my parents are separated (just about to get a divorce), my brother and I stay with our mum, I have been forced into accommodating a step father and sister whom I am gradually getting to know, my relationship with my biological father has been a struggle for years and with my mother has been a bit withdrawn... :-) so many times I have asked God why I have to be nice, even when everything in me DOES NOT WANT TO!!!... :'( when sense and clarity are farfetched!!! :-( does anyone hear me??? :'( but for some reason, I always hang on to God and reach out for His hand at least, when I can't get to His bosom for a hug... :-) because somehow His hand will pull me up when I am falling... :-)

the one thing that God has never wavered about, is His word... :-) Psalms 138:2 says: "...You have honored your name and your word more than anything else." (NIRV) if He has said it, He wants us to do it... :-) remember He has assured us that His commands are not burdensome? (1 John 5:3) so it is possible... :-) my encouragement in this whole situation has been these three verses: Philippians 4:4-6, Galatians 6:9 and Colossians 3:23, and I assure you that never has His word failed to pierce through me, and my situations... :-) and remember, everything we do, is to make eternal impact... :-) you see, none of my family members are born again, and so God offers me an opportunity to witness to them through my love, my life, my prayers and my patience in bearing with them... :-) so at the end of it all, it is of gain to go through whatever I go through, because obeying God is worth it... :-)

I love the Lord, and I am sure you do to, but now we know how He desires us to express love to Him...by OBEYING Him... :-) may He help us, and may He bless you and minister to you as you took time to read this through... :-) show Him some love now won't you!!! ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) everything else may, and will in fact fail you, but here this: God will never (Psalms 73:26) and His word stands forever: (Isaiah 40:8). God be praised forever!!! :-) He is faithful forever and ever!!! :-) I am just where He wants me to be, as long as I obey Him... :-) could you say the same thing??? ;-) ;-) praying for you dear reader... :-) God is a miracle worker!!! :-)

Here to make eternal impact.

Hi readers!!! :) My second blog post and still so excited!!! :) hope our new year has started off well!!! :) In every new season, God is doing something new... :) Isaiah 43:18-19.

Today, I share on making eternal impact while on earth... :) a fact that every believer was created for!!! :) If you ever question why you were created, (whatever it may be), it all is to eventually make eternal impact!!! :)

Every day in life we are faced with a challenge; like a rude service provider, a difficult parent or family member, an uncompromising employer, mate or friend, a situation that seems to never be ending, a rainy day without an umbrella and need to get home...the list is endless... :) but do you know the most important thing is not just getting through the situation, it is our REACTION to it!!! :) think about it… :)

We have an opportunity to witness every day, in just the simple occasions in life... :) in that restaurant, with the rude service provider, my reaction and treatment to him/her is what matters to God, more than any prayer I could make concerning him/her… :) according to Scripture, love is patient, kind, not rude...it goes on (1 Corinthians 13:8 onwards...) love is an action, not a phrase!!! ;-)

Imagine this: if you repaid rudeness to that service provider, and on Sunday they see you in church, on the pulpit giving a testimony, leading worship or preaching, do you really think they are in a pure position to listen to you??? :( I don’t deny that the Lord has power to move and convict, (because that is actually His role to play)...but, we had a chance to minister Him in that situation... :)

To those who seem to have “difficult parents”, I identify with you, but remember the Lord EXPECTS us to honour them, no matter what… Ephesians 6:1-3. And please, it is to honour them in the Lord-to do what is right in Him, not anything against His word and commandments, but even in confronting them in a compromising situation, do it with respect and humility… J with God, this is possible… J

To those who are completely challenged by rude service providers (like myself, I must admit), let Galatians 6:9-10 guide us: Do good to all, be good to all, and as the Word instructs, especially to fellow believers!!! J No back-biting (I confess to this), no criticizing or judging…because every hidden thing will be brought to judgement-whether good or bad… Ecclesiastes 12:14.

I dare you today, to repay evil with kindness, love for hatred and rebellion, trusting God to work through us, and watch and see the deliverance of the Lord at work!!! J Make it an everyday choice… J may the Lord be glorified in all this!!! J God bless you and encourage others as well. Till we read again, God bless you and keep you all, as we strive to make eternal impact while on earth! J

Here’s our song for today: enjoy, be blessed, and bless others!!! :-)

Introduction... :)

hi readers!!! :) welcome to Missionary Stories blog... :) I have been wanting to do this for such a long time, but didn't... :-( but here I am, really excited to do this, and grow in it. My intention is to inspire you readers through my life experiences, through what God teaches me and hope you will be blessed and transformed... :) and share your as well... :) we serve a mighty God!!! :)

I am a born-again Christian, for the past eight years...and still growing and learning lots!!! :) The reason for the name "Missionary Story" is because I love mission work, and a wise friend of mine from Minnesota recently reminded me that being a missionary does not mean travelling all over the world...it is the daily places God puts us in, calling us to apply righteousness and witness to all around us who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, by our lives and words... :)

The reason for doing all this, is to fulfill the Great Commission that Christ gave us in Matthew 28:16-20. I don't know about you, but I am in love with the work of Christ... :) serving others and telling them about Him in speech and deeds... :) so I raise my hands, bow my knees and humbly ask the Lord to help me be a missionary in my day-to-day life... :) and like the famous song says: "For the sake, of the cross, I am laying down my all..."

I know it sounds easier said than done, but with the help of the Spirit of God, He enables us to do God's will... :) and because I love worship music as well, I will always post a song on my blog posts, just so that we have good music to rely on, and have a reason to log on to Youtube... :)

Here's today's song: http://youtu.be/n_Voi3JM8ZA Have a listen... :) God bless you!!! :) and happy 2013... :)
